More about Sus Historias

Sus Historias is a website highlighting the experiences of immigrants in the state of Rhode Island and providing resources to immigrants across the state.

Created in 2022, Sus Historias is inspired by my own experiences as a first generation Latina whose parents come from Guatemala. My parents, both immigrants to the United States have always highlighted the importance of knowing where you come from and have always taught me about immigrants rights growing up. My father, deported when I was nine years old, played a huge role in my understanding of the issues that immigrants play. Now a citizen of the United States, I was able to see first hand his navigating the system to become a citizen and my families struggle with it.

Sus Historias hopes to bring about a new perspective and commonality amongst anyone who takes the time to read the instagram posts, visit the resources, and read the blog posts. As humans, we all have a story to share and can often times find ourselves sharing similar aspects of the story, no matter how different we may be.
